The llao llao Craze!

Food is always a hot topic on every Singaporean mind. Known for food craze & trends which have come and gone, like donuts, beancurd and bubble tea - but after trying llao llao, I think this froyo store is definitely a contender that will stay on for a long long time.

Ask any youth out there: Have you tried llao llao? Majority will tell you Y-E-S! Recently launched in Singapore, with their first outlet sitting comfortably in Marina Link, they have now opened several more stores islandwide. I must say, I do envy my fellow SP juniors who are now enjoying llao llao in school anytime ohmygoodness. Most of the marketing for llao llao has been more of a word of mouth type, as it grew in popularity as more people came to know of this delicious delight from social media pictures. C'mon, if you see a froyo parfait that has a generous serving, combined with fresh fruits and crunchy toppings, along with a range of never-tasted-before sauces, with a green spoon so striking that you just can't resist - you know you have gotta get your tastebuds on this.

I personally LOVE their sanum. Whatever sanum means, in my dictionary, its definition is: froyo perfection with 100% satisfaction. I've had it 3 times, but no way am I stopping my llao llao intake anytime soon! If a store is in sight, I'm getting in line. And when I say line (mainly weekends), it is not a short queue, neither is it a 10 minute wait - more like an hour's wait in a queue that moved at snail's pace. Maybe that's the only setback, coz the service can be pretty slow - BUT I must must must emphasise that this is because they don't rush through your froyo creation. You see my friend, every sanum is different. Let me tell you why.

First off, they put a dollop of froyo at the bottom, then proceed to choosing 1 crunch, and 3 types of fruits, which they will then top it with another layer of crunch, before swirling that fantastic froyo again, and topping it off with a sauce of your choice. In this photo, taken on 27 July, I chose muesli, watermelon, melon & blueberries, plus the famous dark chocolate sauce.

Muesli with chocolate chips is like one of the most heavenly toppings I've ever had, and I highly recommend it to everyone. The fruits are surprisingly juicy and sweet, beyond expectations - just feast your eyes on the voluptuous blueberries okay, I can't even find those in stores here. That chocolate sauce. oh. my. It freezes once it hits the froyo, but when you put it in your mouth, it really just combines so beautifully with each spoonful.

Totally worthy of the title: "Heaven in a bite".  At $5.90, this is incredible. If you haven't tried it yet, you really should - just a tip for you guys though - the one at 313 serves up more yoghurt, but they don't give as much toppings (as heard from my cousin) & they also charge a higher price by $1 (prolly due to the higher rent there, so can't blame them), so I guess if you're in the esplanade mrt area, do pop by their Marina Link outlet instead. :D

Raise your green spoons,

Choo, Choo! It's Thai Food :D

Choo, Choo? Hahaha... well, if it makes any sense, I ate at ThaiExpress last thursday with my FYP mates! :D {Betcha geddit now}

It's one of the many meals tgt to come, since FYP mates are like your new best friends (you see them all the time, basically - not that I'm complaining, I LOVE MY GROUP praise the Lord) XD Anyways, the reason why our group so randomly turned up for late lunch (like waaay late, around 3.45pm), was coz our lecturer had let us off earlier, so we decided to have lunch tgt yayyyyy (especially for the foodie lover - ME). Took kinda long to choose, since Clementi Mall doesn't have much stuffz, but we eventually settled for yknow, ThaiExpress. :>

I ordered a set meal, which includes the main dish: SaNook Thai Green Curry Chicken Rice, Pomelo Salad, Glass Vermicelli Soup & Sweet Potatoes w Whipped Cream = $12.90.
Isn't it quite worth it? Well, when as I ate my fill, I can tell you, my next visit to ThaiExpress won't be that long... XD

Let's get the ball rolling! (or drooling of saliva, more like)

First up, the SaNook Thai Green Curry Chicken Rice!!! le yumz.

SaNook Thai Green Curry Chicken Rice
As you can see, the rice itself is slightly greenish in colour, which means that they might have doused the rice with green curry before serving (I doubt so though, the rice wasn't wet with gravy, no gravy at all actually), so I guessed that they might have cooked the rice in a special way that allowed the essence, herbs & flavour of the green curry to be contained so awesomely. Chicken pieces were hidden in the rice, and the chicken was very tender, it was in noooo way hard, and was thoroughly enjoyable! This main dish was so goooooood. A definite recommend.

Pomelo Salad
It might be kind of weird at first glance, seeing that we're not accustomed to having pomelos with... onions. :D Well, I was rather hesitant on my first bite, since I've always labelled pomelos as the cousin of grapefruit, and a tad bitter. However, I was mindblown when my tastebuds only reacted to the sweetness, and it was NOT BITTER AT ALL. Very lovely starter to the meal, and the portion was so generous, I asked one of my team mates, Jillian, to have some :D

Glass Vermicelli Soup
Clear soup, huh? How good can it be... that was my thought, thinking that it was going to just be a nice accompaniment to the main. How wrong I was! It was loaded with glass vermicelli, and bits of vege here and there, and the soup was tasty :) It was slightly peppery as well, which gave it the Thai touch.

Sweet Potatoes w/ Whipped Cream
Now, now. Don't cringe! This was very very very very good :B The sweet potatoes were nicely diced, and had such amazing sweetness and the right amount of bite for every mouthful. The whipped cream works well with the sweet potatoes, and was light & creamy. Interesting dessert that I recommend.

Overall, I must say, I enjoyed this meal so much! Of course, the company of friends makes it all the more memorable :) The portions were generous, and left the place feeling absolutely satisfied. Will be frequenting ThaiExpress more often, now that I know of good stuffz.

To those who wish for a change in palates,
Cherlyn xoxo

A Dark Bitter Chocolate Fantasy

Hey guys!!! Sorry for the extra long hiatus... during my holidays (which ended around 2 weeks ago), I was literally just rolling about in the house, catching up on all the Korean dramas I wanted to watch :D Teehee. Had amazing stuff like City Hunter, Faith The Great Doctor, Personal Taste, and even rewatched BOF :) Heh, if you haven't known by now, Lee Min Ho is my fave actor :D {I'm watching ongoing kdramas now actually - Gu Family Book, You're the Best, Lee Soon Shin & Jang Ok Jung, Live in Love}
Well, now that I'm back and chock-full of food to yak about, let's get to it!

First up, DARK BITTER CHOCO CAKE from... Chocolate Origin!

I'm sure lotsa Singaporeans have had ultra delish choco cake from Awfully Chocolate, but have you guys took a bite out of Chocolate Origin's? :D Coz lemme tell you, their cake, is amazeballs.

Chocolate Origin counter
They have 2 outlets, one at Changi Village Road, and the other, at 313@somerset :) I patronised the latter.

Chocolate Lava cake, with vanilla ice cream

Center is filled with melted choco yumz!
My family decided to try their lava cake, since one of my classmates raved about it before :) It's rather interesting, as they have vanilla ice cream on the bottom, then the lava cake on top! This ensures maximum satisfaction of the hot n cold, as they combine well together. The ice cream was normal, but the chocolate in the center, oh that was GOOD. It is like pure melted chocolate, just waiting for you to scoop it up. Might not be the best of the best, but hey, I still totally recommend this cup of awesome gooey chocolate.
A tip though, don't leave the lava cake alone for too long, or it'll become soggy due to the melting ice cream on the bottom :D

Of course, our star of the post, the dark bitter chocolate cake! :DDD This retails at $36, and is more expensive than the original. The prices vary for different sizes btw.

My photo doesn't do this cake justice.

This, my friends, is the amazing chocolate cake that hits the right spot. Explaining the exact experience is not possible in words, and it is a must-try personal experience ^_^ What I can tell you is, I like this cake better than Awfully Chocolate's, as the dark bitter chocolate that Chocolate Origin uses is very very palatable, and it is neither too sweet nor too bitter. The texture of the cake is wonderful, with a smooth fudge-like coating of chocolate, with a dense spongey interior, with chocolate laced in between the layers. I LOVE THIS CAKE.

Mind you, I've eaten a ton of chocolate cakes before, and to say that this cake is better than Awfully Chocolate's, you've gotta have this.

A good tip though: don't get too excited and cut yourself too big a slice... coz umm yes, too much chocolate = too much richness, it will get to you. :D

I'll definitely be getting this cake again, and it'll always be the dark bitter - yknow, I do sort of have a taste of bittersweet chocolate, instead of the all out sweet kinds. Yeapppp.

Will be posting more often soon! Hopefully I can squeeze out some time from my year 3 to do this >v<

Fulfilling your choco fantasies,
Cherlyn xoxo

Healthy Treats On-the-go!

Aloha readers! :)

Are you tired of eating out everyday, sticking to the same old stalls in school, or snacking unhealthily when hunger pangs hit you while working? Well, why not we take it easy for a few days, and plan healthy lunches! ;)

Recently, I made it a point to eat healthier - not because mainly wanting to shed some pounds, but really, to give a refreshing change to my usual school diet (mainly consisting of fish soup, economic rice & Subway), and enjoy bringing a whole variety of different foods to school (to the envy of others kekeke). Of course, it involves preparing the meal the night before, or getting up earlier, so this obviously requires some motivation & willpower lol. :D

Anyways, I've come up with 3 original healthy recipes, that cater to one's different hunger pangs, and hopefully, you guys will be inspired to bring your own food too! It's really not that much of a nuisance, especially once you get used to routine :) Why are we waiting? Let's get started!

Presenting to you...

Tuna salad, with hard boiled egg, green olives, tomatoes, salad greens, cheddar cheese & a lemon quarter!!! Le yumz.

Doesn't it look fresh & utterly awesome?
I love the colours of the different ingredients here, it sure looks like a fiesta! :D

Ingredients you need:
  • 1egg
  • 1 tomato
  • A handful of salad greens
  • 1 lemon quarter
  • 5 green olives
  • Grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/3 can of tuna
What you need to do:
  1. Boil water in a pot, then pop the egg in (be careful not to crack it in the process), and let it boil for 10-12 minutes {TIP: ideal timing for the perfect boiled egg}
  2. Slice the tomatoes & green olives, then set aside
  3. Rinse the salad greens, and place it like a bedding into a container (the one that you're bringing along)
  4. Arrange the tomatoes, olives, cheddar cheese, egg & lemon quarter on top of the bedding of greens
  5. Open a can of tuna, take out a 1/3 portion, then pop the can into the fridge. Put the tuna in the center of your salad.
  6. Chill in the fridge overnight, and rmb to bring a fork the next morning! :)

Now, why should you eat this?
Well, tuna is known for being rich in protein, low in fat and calories, plus a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, which helps to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
Along with the many benefits of eating your greens, cheese is rich in calcium, and olives are rich in iron, Vitamin E and copper, and an excellent source of fiber.

I love how this salad is both filling, and you feel energised after nomming this delicious salad! Don't frown at veggies, they're awesome, and one shouldn't be afraid to venture to the green heights XD

If you do try this out, do reply in the comments down below & attach a picture! I'd love to see your recreations.

Next up, this is for those who require more energy in their daily diet:

Ham & Egg sandwich with cherry tomatoes, herbs & cubed cheese! :D

Easy easy, light light
This sandwich is incredibly easy to pull off, and although this is something one needs to wake up early to prepare, it'll only take a short while, and believe me, it's worth your precious sleep.

First off, this is healthier in the sense that we're making use of better ingredients:
  • Wholemeal bread VS White bread
Wholemeal is waaaay healthier than your usual white bread coz, it has more vitamins & minerals, as well as helping with weight loss (*wink* to those who are concerned), and whole grains that reduce the risk of certain health problems, plus it fills you up quicker than white bread does.
  • Use of Olive oil VS other oils
Yes, olive oil plays a part in making sure your egg has been fried - healthier! Olive oil has a high content of monounsaturated fatty acids (instead of trans fats) & antioxidants. Research has shown that it also protects against heart disease by controlling "bad" cholesterol levels, while raising the "good" ones.  Wow. Imagine the difference just by using another type of oil :)

Ingredients you need:

  • 2 slices of bread
  • 1 egg
  • 3 slices of ham (Really thin slices or shaved) - I used Mortadella
  • 3 cherry tomatoes
  • 1 cube of cheese - I used Belcube's
  • Spreadable butter
  • 2 teaspoons of olive oil (DO NOT USE: Extra virgin olive oil!)
  • Oregano flakes
  • Black pepper
What you need to do:
  1. Toast the slices of bread (not till they turn into biscuits)
  2. Crack the egg, and fry it using the 2 teaspoons of olive oil, preferably around 3 minutes
  3. Add oregano & black pepper while frying (to your own liking)
  4. Slice the cherry tomatoes & cubed cheese, set aside
  5. Spread butter onto both slices of toast
  6. Lay on the hams, egg, cherry tomatoes, and cheese on 1 side of toast
  7. Top it off with the other slice of toast, and enjoy!
TIP: If you're eating this at home, and you love having a runny egg yolk, make sure not to poke the yolk when frying. If you're opting to take this to school/work (like what I did), do rmb to poke the yolk when frying, before you are greeted with soggy eggy bread several hours later. ;)

Lastly, one for those who crave for desserts, or just feel peckish during non-meal hours.

Fruit Kebabs w/ Non-fat Yoghurt! :D

Nomming on fruits - the interesting way!
Ever felt that you wanted to dive right into your meal, and not care about the fruits your mum asked you to eat? Or, are you always too stuffed after your meal to finish off your tray of fruits? My my, what a shame. How about we make it so fun & colourful, so much so, that you wanna just chill in yo corner & act like some classy kid, enjoying life while chomping on juicy delights. :D

Fruit kebabs? Oh, amazingly easy to execute. Something you can definitely prepare overnight!

Non-fat yoghurt? Ahem, we have the supermarkets' dairy section for a reason. Yupps, we buy them, and stock them in our fridge.

Basically, you are free to use any fruits you desire, and that's where your creativity of every individual comes alive! You guys are gonna have lotsa fun while stringing the fruits together. (on toothpicks)

For this, I used:

  • Ambrosia apple
  • Pear
  • White grapes
  • Blueberries
  • Dried cranberries
  • Non-fat mixed berries yoghurt from Magnolia
What fruits do you readers love? Get going with your own fantastic creations, and drop a comment with pictures down below, if you have a go at this :)

Health facts:

  1. Yoghurt is known for boosting immunity, lowering cholesterol and being a rich source of calcium.
  2. Fruits have plenty of fibre, and natural sweetness
TIP: To stop your apple slices from turning brown (oxidising), squeeze a lemon quarter over them.

Good excuse for snacking during the day! Dip your fruit kebabs into the yoghurt cup for ultimate satisfaction. :) Trust me, this is my new favourite snack.

I hope y'all like these recipes, and an encouragement to eat healthier when you can - it doesn't have to be an everyday thing, but it will be a nice change in your daily diet.

To the health nuts or wannabe(s),

Cherlyn xoxo

The Blackball Experience

Hey there munchies! ;)

Have you guys ever tried the much talked about Blackball? A dessert chain originated from Taiwan, Blackball is known for its super smooth grass jelly, and its signature desserts :) So... when I saw that it had opened an outlet in Singapore, I anticipated the day I would try their yumz!

Conveniently located at The Star Vista, at a prime spot - literally, since it's the first stall you see once you hop onto the escalator that leads from Buona Vista MRT, it is sure to attract many dessert nommers. Not to mention that they've got quite a fanbase & a lovely alfresco dining area :D

Blackball outlet @ The Star - with a ton of  ppl in line (way more behind in the Q)

Alfresco dining - very nicely furbished!

Huge banner on the indoor seating area,
showcasing their signature dessert

There's a Q number on each receipt! Take a seat as you wait...
I got seats on the inside, and started to wait for my queue number to be called. We waited, and waited, and waited - till we wondered what on earth was taking them so long! >.< If you're in a rush, or don't intend to wait for more than 10-15min, I think you guys should wait till the next time, when you've got time to spare. Coz apparently, it took about roughly 15-20min before it came, and the whole bunch of us were getting kinda restless from the long wait.

Anyways, without any further ado, I present to you, Blackball's signature dessert!

Blackball's Signature dessert - their pride & glory
Loaded with super smooth grass jelly, chewy pearls, red beans, and all the kinds of glutinous balls filled with different sorts of fillings like, 2 yams, sweet potato, lotus (I'm not sure what else there are, but there was quite a variety). Besides that, nommers have the option of having this served up in 4 different ways: Hot, Cold, Warm or Icy. My mum ordered the Cold version.

This dessert also comes with a cute lil' creamer, which is really interesting, as I've not seen it been used in desserts, just your usual coffee or tea.

Since I had my red bean milk ice blend, I didn't really eat much of the dessert - also coz I just ate ahballing glutinous rice balls the previous day :X - but my mum did mention that the dessert was good, but not so good till the point she would order it again. As for my verdict, the grass jelly was really good, and I loved that part, but when I bit into one of the balls, it had this squishy (too chewy) texture, and I didn't fancy that.

I guess it would be based on personal preference for this one, if you love your glutinous chewy balls in a variety of different fillings, this is something for ya! :)

Red Bean Fresh Milk (Ice Blended)

A closer look at the nice blend of red beans & milk
This drink was something I decided to order after seeing that it had a "good!" symbol beside it on the menu, haha! :D I was just itching to try something unconventional & new. Guaranteed, the red beans are nicely blended with the milk and ice, and I like how the flavours were all balanced out, and if you let it melt after a while, the mixture would be perfect (how I know this? I brought half of it back home lol) :D I would so buy this drink again, and for all those who adore red bean, this is a drink you'll put on your fave list for Blackball! ;)

Black Tea! Simple, but a very strong aftertaste of zesty tea
As for the Black Tea, my dad ordered this, since he wanted something without milk for today ;) It had a strong zesty taste, and the tea aftertaste lingers in your mouth, like how good tea does :D Of course, there's 30% sugar added, I do wonder if it would still hold its good balance of zest & sweetness even at 0% - because if it does, to me, the drink will earn its place on my top faves :)

Alrighty-o! Hope this post satisfies (ahem, or rather, enhances) your Blackball cravings - go get some! :D Final verdict: I will definitely patronise this place again, and will try out other drinks, and will share them all with you guys ^_^

Check out Blackball's website: http://www.blackball.com.sg

There are outlets at The Star Vista, Clementi currently. More outlets are opening at 112 Katong, Bugis+ & Bedok (should have opened by this time).

Opening hours for The Star Vista outlet is from 10am till 10pm (Sun-Thurs), 10am till 11pm (Fri-Sat).

Btw, I'll be quite busy over the next few weeks (or should I say, the first half of Feb), so I do apologise for the wait between new posts :) But hey, good nomx is always worth the wait <3

To all you dessert fans,
Cherlyn xoxo

High Tea @ Jones The Grocer

Situated cosily in Mandarin Gallery, lies a bustling level full of hungry people - and obviously, food. Jones The Grocer is guilty of one. ;D Queues, Queue, Q, the line of diners in waiting never really ends, does it? We Singaporeans seems to eat all the time XD

Was supposed to live it fancy at Antoinette's. but the pathetic size of the place turned us off haha. (Will go there next time, but diff place) So, apparently, even after nomming lunch (which was random fishball noodles that I do not care to review), I headed down to Jones The- okay for goodness sake, let's just keep the name simple & just say "JTG" - and met my mum who was already there, and my dad who was with me :) This all happened on a very fine day, the last day of 2012. ;)

It was a gathering for my parents & their church server pals, and the random me who had nth to do, when I heard of food, decided to tag along. The life of a food blogger :> and I certainly don't regret it hehe.

When I first stepped into JTG, I was greeted by an aroma of double chocolate chip cookies (it smelt exactly like the time I baked cookies), and it was quite a pleasant sight to see - there were pastries, varieties of cheese & sweet treats displayed when you walk in/out, there's an entire wine section for those who love to accompany their cured meats or cheese with it. Merchandise & take home mixes is bountiful in this store too, very tempting not to buy one haha.

Their menu is very extensive, and it may be confusing if you're there for the very first time. :D They split their menu into sections, into the dishes they offer at a certain time of the day, so I advise you guys to get the waiter to assist you on that ;)

Now, food!

Blackforest Cheesecake
The blackforest was nicely tart, and wasn't too sweet, and that is a factor that is very important - coz I can't stand sickeningly sweet stuff XD The cheesecake was overall, very good, and is something I would order again (if there was no particular cake I wanted to try). It's delightful, and isn't "heavy", just gives you a sense of creamy satisfaction ^_^

Mint Hot Chocolate
Yaye for mint infused drinks! For you readers out there, I loveeee mint a lot xoxo
Those normal mint sweets aren't even minty enough for me, but something that would come close to the kind of mintiness I adore is "XXX extra strong mints" {found in Candy Empire stores for Singapore}. So, as you can tell, if there is a drink that has mint in it, naturally I would order that.

Take a whiff~
At JTG, they are known for churning out hot chocolate that is indulgent! They not only have mint infused hot chocolate, but they have a myriad of flavours to choose from :) So, for those who want a different infusion, I say, go for it & try something totally wacky ;)

I like how they topped it with a heart & a dash of cocoa, much to my delight ^_^ At first sip, I could taste the chocolatey goodness AND the mint, which is awesome, because at some other places, the mint either takes all the glory, or is practically non-existent. Haha, so I loved the balance of both in this drink :) Good cocoa source, definitely. OHH! It comes with 2 uber cute marshmallows too :D Plop them both in your cuppa, and let it melt....

Red Velvet Cake
For this Red Velvet Cake, I can't say whether it tastes good/bad, coz I didn't try it ;D It was the order from my parents' friends side. They didn't say it was fantastic, or even, anything. Yknow people, when food is good, you gotta say something, right? >v< Well, it certainly was of a big portion, so those who love their red velvets, come get some o'er here!

If you've had this before, and wanna share your thoughts about this piece a cake, do drop a comment down below :)

Fresh Mozzarella with Eggplant, Tomato, Capsicum & Zucchini
My mum decided to order something random off the daily specials menu they had, and it turned out to be vegetables (hahahahahahahaha) - it was $15. So, when the plateful came, she was like... umm okay, I so did not just order vege for $15 in JTG. Anyways...

How can vegetables taste this good? ;)
It was surprisingly delicious! Even though it was just good fresh mozza & slices of a few vege. The mozzarella was undoubtedly fresh, and since I love cheese, so does the rest of my family, we loved loved loved it. The vegetables, to me, were very crunchy and full of flavours, and the eggplant was done very well. (I love vegetables, just in case y'all were wondering) :D

Verdict wise? Okay, $15 for this? If you're feeling like splurging a lil', go ahead, it's worth. But if you'll rather reserve your cash for something more wholesome, like meat... try reading the dish down below ;)

Wagyu Beef Pie w/ a side of rocket greens doused in balsamic vinegar
This was the dish I ordered! *hip hip hooray*
I was looking for something meaty, and since beef is my fave meat, well, there ya have it. Wagyu Beef Pie, with a side of balsamic dressed rocket leaves, it might just leave your tastebuds tingling!

Tender wagyu beef waiting inside...
I like how the pastry is buttery, you can just taste the amazing-ness that encases the super tender beef. As you delve further in, you meet tender, oooh so tender wagyu beef, with gravy too! :) Lemme tell you, this is really really good, and I would order this again. Just that, if you're incredibly famished, this pie won't fill you. ;D The salad was alright, as the greens were fresh, but were a bit on the bitter side, so I didn't fancy it as much as I wished. You can enjoy this at $14.

On a whole, I enjoyed high tea there, and I recommend it for gatherings or girly chit chat sessions, coz you can stay there for as long as you wish, and the waiters won't bother you a single bit :)

TTFN,
Cherlyn xoxo

P.S. Check out my friend's new food blog, feedthishungrygirl.blogspot.sg :) She started it for a school assignment, and she's about to review desserts for today - so all you dessert fans, you're in for a treat. (Her first post will be up tonight)

Gospelicious Bak Kut Teh

Hey there tummies! XD Rumbling yet?

Anyways, you must be wondering about the questionable title. Like, Cherlyn, what on earth is "Gospelicious Bak Kut Teh" manzz? O.O We feed on the Word, but umm, literal-wise?

*gives the cheeky grin* okay, okay.
On Christmas Day several weeks back (mygoodness, Christmas was nearly a month ago), me and my family visited this Bak Kut Teh eatery in the food-laden road of Jalan Kayu :) Yes, we all know that Jalan Kayu is an area that boasts of good food! But... did you know that this particular eatery is not a place that serves up delicious dishes, but is founded by a Christian boss, who is an ex-convict. He started the business coz he wanted to help other ex-convicts to earn a living, impact others' lives, and to live life like any normal person.

It's really amazing that someone who had such a shady past, is so open about how he was last time, but shares about how his journey with Jesus changed him supernaturally. Jesus is the solution ;) Anyways, here's a link to the story: http://www.soshiok.com/article/15857

New Soon Huat - A Bak Kut Teh heaven
What caught my attention when I first sat down, was the familiar music that I heard before.. and to my surprise, it was playing Sidney Mohede's album on the speakers - can you imagine??? Everyone is eating, waiters are serving, God is exalted thru all this. Awesome x infinity.

Alrighty-o, let's cut straight to the mind-blowing food!

Here's the Braised Pig Trotter that we had!
Braised Pig Trotter
I must be dreaming. This is too good to be true. This pig trotter surprisingly didn't have much fat on it, and had such tender, tender, tenderrrrr meat, it is so crazy good, I CANNOT EXPLAIN IT. A MUST TRY. Absolutely marvellous.

Tow Gwa - Fried Beancurd Skins
Tow Gwa is actually Fried Beancurd Skins... before y'all say "whutttt", lemme tell y'all this. This is hands down the BEST beancurd skins I have ever eaten anywhere in Singapore. It is crisp, cooked just right, with good gravy to boot! Goodness contained in a bowl.

Bak Kut Teh broth, with tow gwa floating on top haha
Of course, what's a bak kut teh meal w/o bak kut teh? Naturally the star of the meal, this bak kut teh is different from those peppery garlic ones you get normally, it's the herbal version, and yes, of coz with tender pork ribs! On first slurp, it's not immediate fall-head-over-heels kind of reaction, but as you drink more, addiction begins. And then you begin to raise your hand to request for a refill of soup broth ;)

Braised Egg & Tofu
Egg, yes, egg. Good, but not fantastic :D But the Tofu, is simply delightful! Has a nice bite, not too soft nor hard, and it is something I would order everytime I go there.

Salted Vege
Salted vege to me, is a dish that is a necessity for bak kut teh yumz, as it compliments the bak kut teh well, and it is great to have some nutritious vege! Although, please don't eat too much of this as well, coz it is - s a l t e d. But I love how this is not too salty, making it extremely palatable for people of all ages.

Ginger Sesame Chicken
wow. woW. wOW. WOW!!! I am not exaggerating. Chicken to me is not my favourite meat, as it tends to be not as tender at times, but holy guacamole, this is like manna from heaven, rained down. LOL. The chix has such lip-smacking good flavours, with such tenderness, and a quality that puts many others to shame :) A MUST ORDER.

I can't wait to get to this place again!!! BAK KUT TEHHHHHHH. <3

Keep yo tummies-a-rumbling,
Cherlyn xoxo

P.S. If you happen to try this place out, do leave your experience in comments down below! :)
